Celebrate Fiber Arts - 2018  •  Exhibition Guidelines

 
 
This is an open show - all those who enter are eligible to be exhibited.

Early entry is recommended as entries will close when our available space is used up.

Our four venues lie within a 100 yard radius on Main Street, Monson.

HOW TO ENTER

There are 2 ways to enter:

  1. Download/print an Entry Form. Fill this in and mail, together with your check* to the address below.

  2. Complete the Online Entry Form. Pay online with PayPal/Credit Card during the Online Entry or mail a check.

 

  • Deadline for entry into the show is Saturday, 9/30/2018. Entries after this date may not be listed in our program.

  • Your signature on a mailed flyer / downloaded entry form or your submission via the Online Entry Form indicates your acceptance of all details in the following guidelines, and all linked pages.
     

ENTRY FEES & PAYMENT METHODS
 
   There is a limit of three (3) items per entrant.
  • One piece     $15
  • Two pieces   $25
  • Three pieces $35

DELIVERING YOUR ITEMS

Deliveries should be made to: The House of Art, 200 Main Street, Monson, MA.

Friday      10/12/2018 • 5pm - 7pm

Saturday  10/13/2018 • 9am - 11am 

TAKE DOWN / PICKUP (Entrants and Vendors)

Sunday    10/21/2018 • 4pm - 7pm  (Immediately after the close of the Exhibition)

  • There will be a $15 fee for all late pickups.
    In the case of an emergency, please contact a member of the Celebrate Fiber Arts Committee immediately,
    and make alternative pickup arrangements.

  • Items not picked up within 60 days will become the property of Monson Arts Council, and may be disposed of as they see fit.

JUDGES

The following individuals will select our prize winners.

 

Holly Murray • Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Springfield College  

Jessica Poser • Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Springfield College 

Penny Lewis • Experienced and frequently exhibited quilter.

  

PRIZES

There is a total of $2500 in prizes to be awarded, as follows:

  • Best in Show: $500

  • In each of the following categories:

    • Most Artistically Creative

    • Most Technically Amazing

    • Most Inspiring

   1st prize - $300, 2nd prize - $200, 3rd prize - $100.

  • Committee Choice: $150

  • People’s Choice: $50 

 

  • There will be as many Honorable Mentions ribbons awarded as our judges desire to bestow.

  • Prize winners will also be recognized with ribbons.
     

All decisions of the judges are final.

GUIDELINES FOR EXHIBITING YOUR WORK

General Guidelines

  1. Overall artistic presentation will be the guiding criteria for the judges. Judges will of course, evaluate your submitted work on originality, technical excellence, aesthetics and design. 

  2. Entries must not have been exhibited at a previous Celebrate Fiber Arts Show. 

  3. No work may leave the show prior to the end of the Exhibition.

  4. The Monson Arts Council Celebrate Fiber Arts Committee reserves the right of final acceptance of any item entered for the Exhibition.

  5. Entries will be accepted into our show until available space is used up. 
    The entrant of any item not included in the exhibition due to space limitations, will be notified and the entry fee returned.

SALES & COMMISSIONS

  • Exhibited items may be for sale.  Please indicate the price (in whole $'s). If not for sale, indicate “NFS”.
    The Monson Arts Council sales commission is 20% on all sales. This will be treated as a donation to the Monson Arts Council for which a receipt will be given.  Monson Arts Council is a 501(c)3 organization.

 

PHOTOGRAPHS

We welcome images of your work. By submitting your image, you grant  Monson Arts Council permission to use it in our promotional material both printed and electronic.  Use your last name and some part of the the entry item title as the filename, so that we may easily match image to entry.

E.g.  Betsy Totten might have submitted her famous quilt entry as:  Totten_RisingSun.jpg

Images should be in *.JPG format, RGB with a minimum of 1000 pixels on the larger side.  Files no bigger than 3Mb please. E-mail to celebrate@monsonartscouncil.org with a Subject line of 'Your_last_name   Images'.  (Click the link.)

PROMOTION
  • Monson Arts Council promotes our show with press releases, paid advertising, postcards which are shared with artists, and on our own website and Facebook pages.

  • Monson Arts Council may use an image of your work to promote the art exhibition.

  • Artists are invited to use social media to invite friends, family and patrons and to let the public know about  your presence in our show.  We’ll be sharing a FB/web friendly image with all entrants via email prior to the show.
