2020 - Spring Art Exhibition and Sale - Guidelines

​ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • We welcome work in every medium in the following Categories. (Select the one which best suits your work):

    • Photography/Video

    • Painting

    • Multi Dimensional Art

    • Graphic Arts – including drawing and printmaking

  • All entries must be:

    • originated by the artist, entered under their own name.

    • completed within the past 3 years

    • not previously exhibited in a Monson Arts Council show

  • All entries must also be for sale:
    The commission on sales is 20%. The Monson Arts Council Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All commissions will be considered as donations and may be tax deductible. You will receive a confirmation of your donation with your sales receipt.

     

  • Selected artwork:

    • Monson Arts Council may print an image of your artwork in our Show Program, and may request use of an image of your work to promote the art exhibition. Your work, if used will be credited to you. 

    • Artwork will remain in exhibit until  5pm, Sunday April 19th.

 
HOW TO ENTER

There are 3 ways to enter:

  1. Complete the Online Entry Form. Once submitted, pay online with PayPal/Credit card or mail a check*.

  2. Download/print an Entry Form. Fill it in and mail, together with your check* to the address below.

  3. If you would like us to mail you an Entry Form, please call us at 413-267-3208. Please leave your name and address..

 

​* Mailed in Entry Forms: Complete your form and check (made out to Monson Arts Council) and mail to:

ENTRY FEES

The non-refundable entry fees are:

  • $25 - One piece of artwork     

  • $35 - Two pieces of artwork 

  • $45 - Three pieces of artwork
    If you have already entered a piece, a 2nd or 3rd piece may be entered for an additional $10 each (3 max).

     

  • $15 - "Walk-in" fee:  For entries submitted with artwork on the delivery day. 
    This fee may be avoided by using the Online Entry Form by the previous Wednesday evening.

    Printed documents for your entries will then be available at delivery time. It will save you having to write them out in duplicate at that time.
     

PAYMENT METHODS

Payments may be made by Check or PayPal/Credit Card (Online Entry Only)

Checks should be made payable to Monson Arts Council.

SUBMITTING / DELIVERING YOUR ARTWORK:

There are two ways to deliver your artwork for the jury process:

  • Hand deliver your artwork.

    • Entries to be received by March 4th

    • Delivery of Artwork - Saturday March 7th - 9:00am-11:00am

  • Send Digital images of your artwork.  (Digital Entry Closing Date – Wednesday March 11th 8pm)
    Use one of the following methods:

    • Send a thumb drive or DVD containing JPG files complete with your Entry Form and check to the mailing address above.   Note! Your media will NOT be returned.

    • E-mail JPG files to us at – artshows@monsonartscouncil.org

NOTIFICATION OF ARTWORK SELECTED FOR THE SHOW.

The jurors will select the artwork to be displayed in the show. The list of SELECTED artwork will be displayed on the MAC Website no later than March 18th.  We will however strive to get the results posted as soon as possible.

This is the only official method of notification.  (Do not depend on any e-mail notification. We do not guarantee to send any.)
 

Hand delivered artwork which was not selected should be picked up on March 21st 9:00am-11:00am ​(Snow date March 31th).   If you had one piece selected and another not, please pick up the non-selected piece on this time.

If you wish to be included in the Online Gallery and have not already submitted a .jpg image of your selected artwork, please e-mail one to artshows@monsonartscouncil.org

 

Digitally submitted work which has been selected should be prepared according to the General Requirements for Artwork and delivered on March 21st, 11:30am-1:00pm. (Snow date March 22nd)

PICKUP OF ARTWORK
  • Artists are responsible for prompt pickup of work when required. This includes work not accepted for the show and unsold work following the show. See Calendar for pickup dates.

  • There is a $10/week charge for all art not picked up on schedule.

  • Any artwork not picked up after 60 days will become the property of the Monson Arts Council.

  • No art may be removed from the show during the exhibit.

  • You may send a representative to pick up or deliver artwork. Receipt or letter with ID, signed by the artist will be required for pick-up.

  • We can ship artwork through an art mailing service, cost will be billed to the artist.

JURORS
Each year the committee for the Spring Art Exhibition and Sale select a new set of jurors.  For our 27th event, we are pleased to have:(Click the juror's name for their biography)
                                                                     
 
PRIZES

All Prize Winning works are featured in our Program. This program is mailed to museums, galleries and media throughout the region.  (See www.monsonartscouncil.org/past-shows

 

  • Best of Show - Selected by Jurors - $1000

  • In each of the show categories, awards selected by the jurors include

    • First Prize of $500

    • Second Prize of $100

    • Honorable Mentions - No cash award.

  • President's Choice - Selected by Steven Lowell, President, Monson Savings Bank - $300

  • Outstanding Monson Artist - $300 – Selected by our Jurors - Sponsored by Moulton Insurance Agency, Inc.

  • Committee Choice - Selected by Committee Ballot - $200

  • Emerging Artist Award - Prize for artist who has not previously exhibited in a juried show - Selected by our Jurors -
           $50 Gift Certificate from Giclée of New England, Inc.

  • People's Choice - Voted by Visitors at Artists' Reception -  People's Choice Award ceramic mug
     

All category prizes are awarded at the jurors' discretion. For example, if a category has few entrants, certain prizes may not be awarded.

Artist exhibitors & committee members may sell work in our Sales Shop, open during the three weekends of the exhibition.

PROMOTE THE EXHIBITION

The Monson Arts Council promotes our Spring Art Exhibition and Sale in many venues.  Artists are strongly encouraged to promote the exhibition to friends, patrons and on social media.
