2021 - Spring Art Exhibition and Sale - Guidelines

The Colors of Change

​ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • We welcome work in every medium in the following Categories. (Select the one which best suits your work):

    • Photography/Video

    • Painting

    • Multi Dimensional Art  - Including Fiber Arts

    • Graphic Arts – including drawing and printmaking

  • All entries must be:

    • originated by the artist, entered under their own name.

    • completed within the past 3 years

    • not previously exhibited in a Monson Arts Council show

  • All entries must also be for sale:
    The commission on sales is 20%. The Monson Arts Council Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All commissions will be considered as donations and may be tax deductible. You will receive a confirmation of your donation with your sales receipt.

     

  • Selected artwork:

    • Monson Arts Council may print an image of your artwork in our Show Program, and may request use of an image of your work to promote the art exhibition. Your work, if used will be credited to you. 

    • Artwork will remain in exhibit until  5pm, May 30th.

 
HOW TO ENTER
  • Up to 3 pieces may be entered.
     
  • Payment may be made by:
    • Check made payable to Monson Arts Council and mailed to:
      MAC 2021 Exhibition, c/o Tim Denney, 94 Lakeside Drive, Monson MA 01057.
    • PayPal or Credit Card (both processed through PayPal, though no PP account needed for Credit Card. )

2 Pieces @ $35
3 Pieces @ $45
Add an additional piece to a previous entry @ $10
Max. 3 total.
SUBMITTING YOUR ARTWORK:

Due to COVID-19 limitations, all Artwork will be submitted Digitally for the jury process this year.
Items selected by the jurors to be in the show will be required to be delivered.

  • Send Digital images of your artwork.  (Closing Date – April 14th - 8pm)
    Use one of the following methods:

    • E-mail JPG files to us at – artshows@monsonartscouncil.org (preferred)

    • Send a thumb drive or DVD containing JPG files complete with your Entry Form and check to the mailing address above.   Note! Your media will NOT be returned.

NOTIFICATION OF ARTWORK SELECTED FOR THE SHOW.

The jurors will select the artwork to be displayed in the show. The list of SELECTED artwork will be displayed on the MAC Website no later than April 26th.  We will however strive to get the results posted as soon as possible.

DELIVERING YOUR ARTWORK:

 

Artwork which has been selected should be prepared according to the General Requirements for Artwork and delivered on one of two days:

  • May 1st  10:00am-1:00pm  (Last names starting A-J)

  • May 2nd 10:00am-1:00pm  (Last names starting K-Z)

PICKUP OF ARTWORK
  • Artists are responsible for prompt pickup of work when required.  (June 5th and 6th)

  • There is a $10/week charge for all art not picked up on schedule.

  • Any artwork not picked up after 60 days will become the property of the Monson Arts Council.

  • Artwork may not be removed from the show during the exhibit.

  • You may send a representative to pick up or deliver artwork. Receipt or letter with ID, signed by the artist will be required for pick-up.
     

JURORS
Each year the committee for the Spring Art Exhibition and Sale select a new set of jurors.  For our 27th event, we are pleased to have:(Click the juror's name for their biography)
                                                                     
 
PRIZES

All Prize Winning works are featured in our Program. This program is mailed to museums, galleries and media throughout the region.  (See www.monsonartscouncil.org/past-shows

 

More than $4200 in cash prizes ($3400 in category prizes + other prizes to be announced.)

  • Best of Show - Selected by Jurors - $1000

  • In each of the show categories, awards selected by the jurors include

    • First Prize of $500

    • Second Prize of $100

    • Honorable Mentions - No cash award.

 

All category prizes are awarded at the jurors' discretion. For example, if a category has few entrants, certain prizes may not be awarded.

PROMOTE THE EXHIBITION

The Monson Arts Council promotes our Spring Art Exhibition and Sale in many venues.  Artists are strongly encouraged to promote the exhibition to friends, patrons and on social media.
