ART CAMP 2018
Art Camp 2018
Summer Art Camp 2018 was a blast! Held at Quarry Hill Elementary School this yearly two-week camp organized by Monson Parks and Rec and supported by the Monson Arts Council brings area youth and art teachers together to get creative. Each day was filled with multiple art activities and swimming in the pool with an art show at the end of each week for friends and family to view their work.
Week one was an Illustration and Storytelling theme where students wrote and illustrated books, painted, sculpted, designated original characters and sewed them together. A field trip to the Dr. Seuss exhibit at the Springfield Museum with playtime in the Hasbro game room and a whirlwind tour of the science and art museums.
Week two was a Theater theme with an original script dreamed up by the kids and directed by Faith Ward. Students designed props, sets and costumes for their adaptation of Peter Pan. A field trip to the Hanover Theatre in Worcester was a special treat for campers to see a full dress rehearsal of Beauty and the Beast.
A big thank you to our teachers for all their hard work for planning and helping the kiddos make art in new ways! Teachers included Juliet Baccahas, Alanah Nelson, Faith Ward, Kim Uliana and Jayme Winell. Gabby Roncarati was a super star teen councilor and Andrea Newland as Camp Director organized teachers, field trips and activities.
